How We Got Here
Our History
Since 2007, we have been a trusted destination for small businesses. Over the past 19 years, we’ve continued to evolve, but our focus has always remained the same. Below is a look at the history of how we got here.
2025
Thriving Facility
With occupancy at approximately 80%, we proudly serve a wide mix of personal and business tenants. Unlike traditional storage facilities, ours is highly active, with the gate recording over 12,000 openings last year.
2024
First Container Production
Our first container was flat-packed and manufactured at our facility in Southern China. It represented a significant design breakthrough, featuring a fully functional work-ready interior with insulation, fire resistance, temperature control, and integrated LED lighting.
2023
Facility Opens
The facility officially opened in April 2023 after nearly two years of development. The project faced challenges, including navigating and defending against aggressive building code interpretations.
2022
In-house Built App Launch
We developed our customer facility app from the ground up in collaboration with a premier digital platform company headquartered in Brazil.
Today, it stands as one of our core pillars. By owning this technology, we secure our future and maintain full independence, free from reliance on any external storage or facility management software providers.
2021
Construction Begins
Construction took 2 years and was an epic undertaking consider COVID, lack of labor, skyrocketing shipping rates.
2019
Early Designs & Planning Approval
A presentation to Brunswick County planning board, began a journey of explaining the viability and community benefit of the facility design. People struggled that was neither a traditional parking lot now was it a campground.
A long process ensued leading to the go ahead to build the facility.
2012
Michael Nardella
Michael Nardella first sparked our interest in storage through his connection with someone involved in a local self-storage facility in Hong Kong. He was also highly focused on parking as an asset class and recognized the shortcomings in existing offerings.
2007
Maat Holdings First Property
Built on the Davis Leland family chicken farm in 1968 this location was used a fire extinguisher distribution facility up until 2004. We turned the facility into our first storage and shell flex building facility after it was handed down to the younger generation in 2007.
